1. TWO MANUFACTURING CENTERS
No.1 Factory (Located in Province-Class Wujin Hi-Tech Industrial Zone)
No.1 factory located at UNION Industrial Park, UNION Group’s headquarters, which located in province-class Wujin Hi-Tech Industrial Zone. It is the largest R&D center and manufacturing center for Waston's orthopedic products.
Changzhou is located in the southern part of the Jiangsu Province, which is adjacent to the metropolitan city of Shanghai. Changzhou has become one of the fastest growing and most competitive developing cities along the east coast of China. Changzhou is also an ancient cultural center with a history spanning over 2,500 years. The city covers a total area of 4,375 square kilometers and has a population of 3.4 million. It is close to Shanghai (160 km), Nanjing (110 km) and Hangzhou (210 km).
Jiangsu Province is the most prosperous region in China with a GDP growth rate of about 11.2%. It has approximately 74 million inhabitants - the highest population density in China.
At present, foreign investors from 73 countries and districts have invested in Changzhou. 22 of the top foreign companies such as GE, Goodyear, Mettler-Toledo, Bosch Rexroth, F & G, Karl Mayer, Valinox, S & I, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Hyundai have set up factories in Changzhou. At the year of 2004,GDP of Changzhou reached 110 billion RMB, while the Inustrial output reached 255 billion RMB, 27.7% higher than 2003. Also in 2004, Import & Export T/O of Changzhou was 6.91 billion USD,31.5% increased.
Wujin Hi-Tech Industrial Zone (WIZ) is located in the southernpart of Changzhou. It was approved in 1996 by Jiangsu Government. It has a total planning area of 100 square kilometers. Electronics Information, new materials and machinery have taken shape. In 2004, Business income of Wujin Hi-tech Industrial Zone (WIZ) has reached RMB 20 billion with a 60% increase than last year. Wujin Hi-tech Industrial Zone ( WIZ) is connected to major cities in China and other parts of the world through a well developed expressway, railway, waterway and air transportation networks.
l Motor Way: Direct access to the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway and Lianshan Expressway between Shanghai and Nanjing.
l Port: The Yangtze port is located north of Changzhou City and is the first state port that is accessible to vessels weighing over 30,000 tons.
l Airport: 20 domestic flight destinations including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen etc.
l Railway: About 80 long distance trains per day via the Changzhou Railway Station (Shanghai-Nanjing Railway). Shanghai-Beijing high speed railway is being planned.
No.2 Factory (Located in Nation-Class Changzhou National Hi-Tech District)
No.2 factory together with Waston’s Surgical Stapler Department located in Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (Xinbei District). It is one of the most important R&D and manufacture centers of Waston.
As one of the most important cities, Changzhou is located in Shanghai Economic Circle, the largest and most developed region in China, which covers the Yangtze River Delta and other areas along the Yangtze River.
Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (CND), a national industrial development area approved by the State Council, was established in August 1992. It lies in the northern part of Changzhou City, very close to the Yangtze River. After 12 years' development, CND has made notable achievements: it not only has built complete infrastructure facilities and perfect supporting services, but also has formed a strict legal system. Undoubtedly, CND has become one of the investment spotlights for foreign investors in China.
With the certificate of ISO14001, CND has attracted many overseas investors. Up to now, over 7,000 enterprises have registered in the District, of which 3,7000 are industrial enterprises and about 600 are overseas-invested companies. CND prioritizes the following industries such as chemical, environment protection, electronic information, software and new materials etc. An Electronics Technology Industrial Park and the Torch Program Software Park have been established in the District.
